Danny Schofield, Chris Brandon and Frank Sinclair are among nine players released by Huddersfield.

New boss Stan Ternent, recently installed as Andy Ritchie's replacement, has offered new deals to Joe Skarz, James Berrett and Matt Glennon.

Schofield announced he would be leaving the club after 10 years' service in February, but Brandon and Sinclair can count themselves unlucky not to have their contracts renewed.

Midfielder Brandon, who joined Town from Chesterfield in 2004, had fought his way back into the starting line-up since the turn of the year.

Former Chelsea and Leicester defender Sinclair was offered a one-year deal after a successful loan spell at the end of last season, but has not featured since the end of March due to a calf injury.

Youngsters Matthew Young, Danny Racchi, Aaron Hardy, Lucas Akins, Mitchell Bailey and Luke Malcher have all been released after failing to cement a place in the first-team squad.

Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland has begun his summer shake-up by releasing four players.

Defensive duo Matthew Bailey and Ryan Lynch will not be offered new deals at Gresty Road and are free to find a new club.

Out-of contract forwards Junior Brown and Nick Farquharson, who have been on loan at Witton Albion and Nuneaton respectively, have also been told their futures lie elsewhere.

New deal

Crewe academy graduate James Bailey has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The midfielder, who can also play at right-back, made two substitute appearances for the Alex this season.

"We are delighted that James has signed a new contract. He has been given another year and we will review it again in relation to his progress," said Holland.

"We are looking to slim down the first-team squad but it is important that we have a little development group under that which James will fall into.

"He has made progress this year and now it is up to him to go on again and compete for a place in the squad."

Huddersfield Town have agreed to sign Blackpool's Scottish striker Keigan Parker on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old's contract expires at the end of June when he is expected to move to the Galpharm Stadium subject to a medical.

Manager Stan Ternent told the club's website: "He gives us another option up front and he is genuinely quick. He is proven at this level of football.

"We're really pleased to have him here but there are more to come."

Parker joined Blackpool from St Johnstone on a free transfer in 2004 and helped the Seasiders gain promotion to the Championship in 2006/7 by scoring 16 goals.

He rejected the offer of a new contract last autumn after failing to hold on to a regular first-team place.

That's a good signing for Huddersfield, especially on a free. He has scored pretty freely at St. Johnstone and Blackpool.

Southend United are trying to bring Wolves left-back Charlie Mulgrew back to the club on a permanent deal.
The Scot, 22, spent three months on loan at Roots Hall last season, helping the Blues to the League One play-offs.

Mulgrew returned to Molineux at the end of the campaign, which has left Southend without a left-back.

Manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex: "We're speaking to Wolves to see what offer they'll accept but it will all come down to the fee and player wages."

He is a class player. Id have him back in scotland with Dundee.f.c

Scunthorpe United have secured the signature of former Falkirk defender Kenny Milne.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Bairns from Partick Thistle in 2005, has signed a two-year contract with the League One club.

Milne, who began his career with Hearts, rejected the offer of a new contract from the Scottish Premier League outfit.

He made 31 appearances last season as Falkirk finished in seventh place.

The Irons have also handed a trial to released Manchester United left-back Michael Lea.

Lea, 20, did not make a first team appearance at Old Trafford and spent part of last season on loan at Royal Antwerp
