He was pretty crap up until the goal to be honest. Couldn't for the life of him keep the ball.

I got the goal margin right at least.
I thought this was a good lively encounter, with a few good goals to go with it. Portugal feel like one of those teams that could score on every attack or counter attack they make. They always have support from full backs, especially Bosingwa, and through the middle with the likes of CR and Deco. I thought in todays match, at the level of football that its at, the Portuguese strike force, Simao and Gomes, should have done better with their chances. I can think of at least 4 clear cut chances that they both had, and should have done better. But when you have the talent that they do in midfield, it kind of makes up for it. Czech Republic had their fair share of chances i thought. They seemed to step up a gear when they went a goal down, on both occasions. On the first, it paid of and they got themselves a goal, but the second time it just wasn't happening. Kollar just eneded up fouling the defence every time. And with a defender like Pepe at the back, they're not going to conceed a lot of goals, he looked very good today. |

Czechs don't deserve that scoreline. I thought a draw was a fair result, but a 2-1 win for Portugal might've been good. 3-1 is flattering. Ronaldo as usual was not upto the mark with better players marking him. But to his support, he got a goal...
Baros and Sionko played well IMO but Baros didn't receive any help from the midfielders. There was one counter attack when he was the only one running with the ball along with 2 defenders trying to tackle him and no help came to him for a long long time. But they were good and looked dangerous on set pieces... They clearly missed Rosicky IMO... |

That means nothing though, because ultimately he won the game. He was decisive, having a major part in all 3 goals. If you can be classed as poor and criticised when you've had a part in all 3 goals against a team with a very good defence, then you must be incredibly good for people to expect so much. Portugal didn't defend well, but they managed to score 3 goals against a very good defence, which isn't to be sniffed at. |

Bang on. He tends to go all Hollywood on the most simplest of things. Ronaldo was average for most of the game and was outplayed by Grygera on the Wing, then Galasek when he cut inside. Sionko was a better performer and happened to get the goal, yet there was no fuss about him when he scored. You just have to feel that the Commentators are told to hype up the big names and the star faces with any positive contribution they bring. |

Cesc played 30minutes and made an assist and scored a goal. He didn't get any special hype or comments.
Ronaldo scores and assists a goal and is God almighty - it's not that it matters, it's the fact that it's treated like that. Ronaldo is the core of the attack and Portugal made countless attacks, and countless flopped. Only a few succeeded and Ronaldo is always going to be involved somewhere along the line. I agree that Ronaldo did well enough at the end of the day. But it's how the media/commentators/pundits talk him up when he contributes like that. If he had of played well and was unstoppable by the Czech defence unit, then fair enough, cream over him all night long. But he was outplayed majorly one-on-one until he got two gifted opportunities to score and set-up a goal near the end. Sionko is a good example. He hassled Ferreira all game and got in countless times on his own and scored a nice goal. No stand-out credit. He was better than Ronaldo in that game in terms of what he brought individually and what he made of his own play. So when Ronaldo is creamed over, it's annoying. No? |

Sionko does great for czechs yet he was a flop for rangers haha Well done to him tho for doing well.
I agree english commentators who talk about him non stop. Just like when they talk about england not being there is annoying. Just put volume down if not like tho. |

You know what i was about say that myself ,but that was all he did.Is it a great performance or a good one ,unlike with Man U ,if he wasn't on the team they would have lost the game.Even though he was non existent and quiet most of the time. It's very tough to call, but the commentators get right on my left one when they over react the way they do. Pure sensationalism. |
