Many supporters/fans here support the big teams. So i was wondering how man of you have been abroad to watch your team play in europe.

I have been to see dundee in italy in perugia. Great time there just a pity we got knocked out.

Only time dundee have been in europe since i have been born

The last time my team were abroad was back in the 70's in the old UEFA Cup. Doubt it we'll be going anywhere any time soon either!

a whole ten hours and everybody has been written off as 'gloryhunters'?

get a grip.

i have only been to France when we played Metz in the Intertoto Cup back in 99 (i think it was)

perhaps because i have only been the once i am a glory hunter also?

its very difficult to get tickets to European away games and for a non regular fan its almost impossible so i think its pretty mindless to label everybody a glory hunter because they have not been abroad to watch their team.

I have never went to watch Newcastle in Europe, i must be a 'glory hunter' then! I still go to watch them up and down the country though. I suppose it must be different for you G_Man, just because you want to go to an away match it doesn't mean you will be able to. For you to be accepted at Newcastle you must have been to all of the other home matches in the UEFA Cup that season (or sometimes the majority). I have tried once or twice but with no luck.

considering Dundee have a maximum capacity of 11,000 i would imagine its a hell of a lot easier to get tickets for anything considering they cant even fill that and average at just over 4000 people per game.

an entirely different kettle of fish trying to get tickets for a club with a fanbase 4/5 times the maximum capacity of the stadium.

no i have not been abroad to see Arsenal and do not intend to either , i just do not have the money to splash out on a trip to Italy or Spain to see a match . I also dont see the need really , i dont feel any less of a fan if i dont go abaroad to see Arsenal play .

Its absolute nonsense to say you are not a true fan unless you go to plenty of matches each season , some people just cannot afford to pay the rising costs of following the top teams these days .

I was kidding. Following your comments yeah we have a small stadium and yes a small fan base. 25 thousand we had at cup final "sold out our tickets" even sold out our tickets when in europe in italy, 2 thousand that was.
I know a few Newcastle fans who are based in dundee and they use to get tickets abroad no problem with Newcastle were in europe. The guy saud they never use to take a massive away support to europe.
Shlj your right it is very cheap in europe. Cost be 150 to go to milan to watch dundee in europe for a flight.

Just the feeling being there following your team abroad, such a great feeling instead of watching them on tv. Only my opinion tho.
