mates, how about Julio Cesar from AEK? He was very nice in Lokomotiv, but I don't see any articles about his further career now.

I don't like him much. He's not very clinical with his finishing and wastes a lot of chances. But he does score some important goals from time to time.

PS: early reports indicate that Leontiou will be out for 6 months! Not sure about Mattos yet.

Mattos is OK, but Leontiou has just undergone surgery and the doctors say he will have to miss the entire season!!! His injury looked nasty, but a whole season out could ruin him!

I hope he's back stronger than ever in June so he can train for a whole summer with the team and be ready for next season.

Easy wins for Olympiacos and Panathinaikos today. Olympiacos beat OFI Crete 6-2, scoring 5 times in the first half. Galetti and LuaLua were very good. Panathinaikos had no problems beating Ergotelis, another Crete team, 0-3. Romero scored 2 and gave the assist for the 3rd, but Mattos was probably our best player.

AEK had a more difficult day and needed 2 late goals to win their game against Atromitos (2-0).

Larisa had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Veria, after their European success against Blackburn. Aris Salonica only managed a goalless draw away to Apollon Kalamaria.

Panionios had no trouble beating Levadiakos with the same score they beat Sochaux mid-week, 2-0.

In yesterday's games, PAOK had an easy day against Iraklis and what was supposed to be a derby turned into a walk in the park for PAOK. Final score 3-0. Xanthi scored twice against Asteras Tripolis and kept a clean sheet.

Today's scores:

Aris 1 - 1 Olympiacos (Aris scored from a free-kick 3 minutes into ET!)

Panathinaikos 2 - 0 PAOK (easy win for us - we even had a good goal disallowed)

Atromitos 2 - 0 Larisa (Larisa is having trouble reproducing the form they had against Blackburn, again)

Panathinaikos is now top of the table, but it could change tomorrow after the AEK and Xanthi games.

Another draw for Olympiacos and they're now 3rd. They drew 3-3 with Ergotelis in Crete. Ergotelis was up 2-0, Olympiacos made it 2-3 and then the home team managed to equalize in the 88th minute.

Panathinaikos beat Atromitos 2-0 (they were left with 10 men for over 80 minutes though) and managed to top Olympiacos in the standings (13 points for PAO and 12 for OCFP).

AEK made it 6-in-6 and are now all alone at the top of the league with 18 points.

They're looking good so far, but they haven't played any big domestic games yet.

AEK lost for the first time today. 1-2 to Iraklis. Which means that Panathinaikos (who won 0-4 at Levadiakos) and Olympiakos (who had trouble against PAOK at home but managed to win 2-1) have now gained ground on the leaders. Aris and Atromitos are also doing very well so far.

After 7 games:

1. AEK 18 points (GD=11)
2. PAO 16 points (GD=12)
3. OCFP 15 points (GD=9)
4. Aris 13 poins (GD=4)
5. Atromitos 13 points (GD=1)

Day 7 round up

So after 6 wins in 6 games AEK suffered their first defeat in the hands of Iraklis at home(!).Panatthinaikos easily won levadeiakos 4-0 wawy and Olympiakos won Paok at Karaiskaki Stadium 2 - 1 with goals by Torosidis and Kovasevic.

The fun thing about this weekend:Panionios' Koumorji was shown 2 yellow cards and finished the game as if nothing had happened!!!!!! Referee Mr. Terrovitsas announced after the end of the match that due to his mistake he stops referring and quited... Reminds me of the glory days of World Cup 2006...

Olympiakos lost at Tripoli today. This is their 4th consecutive loss of points away from home. Tough team Asteras Tripolis. They beat Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and i'm sure they'll also give AEK a tough time.

Hopefully, Panathinaikos can beat AEK in the derby tomorrow.

YES!!!

2-1! It could and should have been 4-1 or 5-1. We missed so many chances. AEK was nowhere to be seen in the first half.

Panathinaikos is now 1st with 19 points, AEK second with 18 and Olympiakos 3rd with 15.

Olympiakos v Panathinaikos just finished and it was a really good match. Final score was only 1-1, but there was a missed penalty, 3-4 chances where the player was alone with the keeper, 2 shots that hit the post, a couple of penalties that could have been given but weren't and tons more action.

Panathinaikos played better, but Olympiakos were missing their 2 starting defensive midfielders while we were only missing 1 (lol), so i wasn't surprised.

This leaves AEK at the top, but Olympiakos is only 1 point behind and Panathinaikos 2.

Also, we're playing them again on Wednesday for the cup, with Postiga on the bench.

Former Chelsea assistant manager Henk ten Cate has taken over as the new coach of Greek side Panathinaikos.

The Dutchman takes up the role after both he and manager Avram Grant were sacked by Chelsea in May.

Ten Cate said: "Panathinaikos' history, ambition and attitude towards football in general match those of the greatest football clubs in Europe.

"I've been used to working at the highest level and that's why I consider this a great challenge."

The 53-year-old signed a two-year contract and succeeds Jose Peseiro.

The Dutchman was sacked by Chelsea five days after Grant was dismissed despite the club reaching the Champions League final and finishing second in the Premier League.

Before moving to Chelsea in October, Ten Cate previously managed Dutch side Ajax and helped Barcelona win the Champions League and Spanish title in 2006 as an assistant to former coach Frank Rijkaard.

Panathinaikos finished third in the Greek Super League last season.

Interesting and strong appointment there from Pana, could be just what they need to re-establish themselves.
