I come from Denmark which unfortantly is not paticipating either. And everytime I watch Euro 2008 I cannot help getting a bit annoyed with the fact that we are not participating.

I know you must kind of feel the same, there is just a diffrence that you have one of the best (10 best or something) national teams, and IMO the best legaue in the world so I guess it must be really bitter for you to have to watch the other having fun...

ANd I must admit that I think it is a shame to be missing such a great team. And when Denmark is not there I support England or at least hope that they will get far. I also like Sweden so hence I am following them this Euro as my own country is not represented

So well how do you feel about it? Do you even watch the Euro 2008? And who do you support now that you are not in the tournament?

(This is made for people from England and therefore I would people from England to be the ones to post on this thread.)

I find it funny he/she asked for English people's responses and so far has answers from a Scot, a Welsh lady and a nationality confused Dane.

And ... where's your answer? Laughing

As for me, I'm bummed England are not in. But I see it as a good thing, maybe even a godsend in disguise. If England had made it, we'd still have that idiot McClaren as the manager instead of someone that is competent in Capello. With McClaren at the helm you can forget about trying to win at the 2010 World Cup. At least with Capello, there is that glimmer of hope as he's a proven winner. This now also gives Capello time to build the team and get them to work together (will it happen, maybe, maybe not; but it's a start).

Well it's pretty clear. I'm obviously bitterly disappointed we failed to qualify, but as you say Capello would never have arrived has we qualified and we certainly would not have been good enough to win the thing. I am of course still keenly watching the tournament.

In all honesty i have talked about this subject at great length before and do not wish to write in length about it now.

Oh yeah, I am still watching it, and I'm rooting for Holland as I always do when England isn't involved.

I fine with it. We'd of only lost and we were better off getting rid of Mclaren ASAP.

It's a unique experience seeing England not in a major tournament, as they have qualified for every one since i started following football (France 98 onwards). I'd rather we were involved i suppose, it always makes it more interesting, but i'm still watching every game and enjoying it. I find myself cheering on the Netherlands nearly as much as i would England, and similarly with Switzerland, so i still feel like i have someone to support.

Plus under McLaren we would've been absolutely humiliated and probably not made it out of the group stages, so perhaps it is better to save face. We can rebuild under Capello.

I find it amusing that so far everyone who would usually be supporting England, have decided to root for the Dutch instead. I am exactly the same, and have really enjoyed watching Holland. I think it stems back to the fact that they have Van Basten as manager - he was one of my all time favourite players back in the day.

Also I find the dutch fans to be similar to the English - without them there, the tournament would not be the same.

I find myself pulling for the Dutch somewhat also, don't know why really. Their vibrancy, fluid football and fanatical support is quite appealing.

Im used to the Irish not being in major competitions, we got to the '02 World Cup & did ok but since then nothing.

Like everyone else, I like to see the Dutch do well!

Of course you have to be disappointed when you country doesn't qualify for a major international competition. It just feels like a waste of talent that we have aren't getting the chance to display the country's talent to everyone. But no doubt i will make sure i'm up to date with the goings on in the tournament, and i do try to watch every match.

With England being out, I'm supporting Spain as I'm half spanish, so i still have a country in it lol Smile

I'm delighted we aren't in it.

We are a pathetic disgrace, and don't deserve to be there. Also, the benefits of us not making it far outweigh positives of being there. And i'm glad i can support a real football team. Actually watching proper football makes a change.

Portugal!

Cannot see why I am nationality confused, so if you could please elabroate on that one?

England are one of the major teams in Europe no doubt about that and therefore I would like to hear how you feel about not being in the tournament. Denmark are in the same situation when it comes to being in the tournament.

So that was all I guees.
