He orchestrated the demolition of Bayern Munich too and was brilliant against Rangers. I would do anything to get him in my team. He's worth at least 25million.

Don't forget him slicing Leverkusen's defence to pieces as well. He also scored a brilliant solo goal in that game.

Silva and Arshavin would both be fantastic additions to our squad. If we could find the cash...and I know that is a massive IF....then we should defo pursue that. Barry seems dead in the water now and rightly so, hopefully Xabi may stay but In my heart of hearts I am resigned to him going. The additions of Silva and Arshavin would make us a much more dangerous team and would add potency to every attack. I know I'm dreaming here and maybe being just a tad optimistic.

I reckon we should sign Silva and Van Der Vaart and then play more of a 4-3-3 style and sign Rafinha then sell Arbeloa and Finnan as Degan couldn't even get into the Swiss first team. Then get Bridge at lest back, i really rate him very highly. The last thing i would do is sign a forward, possible Mario Gomes depending on price, but someone who has similar credentials to Torres i.e. quick, can header, good finisher, can link up play if needed, not necessarily someone as good as Torres as that would cost too much plus we don't need someone that good because you can't get better than Torres anyway and they wouldnt come and play second fiddle to him. Also a cheap, and experienced second choice keeper, preferably Canizares as i hear he's on a free and could help Pepe to imrpove.
---------------Reina-------------- Rafinha--Carra--Agger--Bridge ---------------Masch------------- -----Gerrard--------Vaart------- ---Babel-----Torres-----Silva--- In that we have a fantastic keeper in Reina, strong defence and attacking fullbacks with Rafinha and Bridge, the person who i personally think is the best defensive mid-fielder in the world in Masch, then Van Der Vaart as playmaker and Gerrard roaming around where ever. Then lots of pace on the break with Torres Babel and Silva and Babel and Silva can also switch sides and things. Then i would sell Alonso, we don't need two playmakers, sell Crouch and Vorinin as we will hopefully have a better striker, then also sell Benayoun. I think he was a waste of money last year and would much rather play Pennant. Then Finnan and Arbeloa like i said, then also Aurelio. We only need 2 left backs and i rate Insua as a great talent and i would play him second choice, becoming first choice in time. Also sell Carson, he's good but wouldn't wanna be second fiddle to Reina who is alot better. Outs: Alonso £14-16 mil Benayoun £6 mil Crouch £10-12 mil Voronin £1-2 mil Finnan £2-3 mil Arbeloa £3-5 mil Aurelio £4-6 mil Carson £6-8 mil Income from £46-£68 mil This would give us at least £66 mil with min income plus our budget which is apparently around £20 mil. Ins: Van Der Vaart £15 mil Bridge £5 mil Silva £15-20 mil Rafinha £8-10 mil Unknown striker £10 mil Out going from £50-60 mil This would also leave us some for January if we needed it. |

I forgot to say we would also have Degan, Insua, Hyypia, Skrtel, Lucas, Pelessis, Pennant, Kuyt and the unamed striker for Rafa's rotation with Canizares used in Carling cup etc...

I think that would be too many changes in personnel and to the system we play. It could have a detrimental effect at first.
I'd happy with Arbeloa or Degen at right back, Dossena at left back, and then bring in either Silva or Arshavin, Or preferably, both. We'd have plenty of options on the wings supporting Torres with Silva, Arshavin, Babel, Benayoun and Kuyt all offering a different approach. Babel, Arshavin and Kuyt would all be able to cover for Torres up front as well if he got injured. It could allow us to play Babel up front more than on the wing, and continue to use his impact as a sub when the opposition defence tires. |

No way we're selling Aurelio or Arbeloa. They're very solid at the back and I don't see anyone we can realistically buy that would be better than them. They both fit Rafa's system and can run it well.
Benayoun is a great player who is sorely underrated, underappreciated and underused in our squad. He's an intelligent player who rarely does anything wrong. If he's not having a good day, he won't affect the general flow of the game because he's aware of it and won't try to do too much, unlike say, Babel, who continues to force balls up and down even though he knows the defense has his number. Benayoun is someone worth holding on to as he is a constant threat on the left, right, or middle. After what Kuyt has done with Holland and for us in the latter part of the season he deserves another shot on the right side. I say we just focus on finding someone on the left, a second striker to help Torres (granted we sell Crouch), and someone on the right who can cover Kuyt or someone much like Kuyt who can overlap with our right back. If we're able to get Silva on the left, then we'll be able to stick Babel up front with or just behind Torres, and we can go back to the usual 4-4-2 or somewhat of a 4-4-1-1 with Babel just behind Torres or Unnamed Second Striker, but now, we'll have better options on width. |

If we played 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 i don't think Kuyt would fit, he's a more attacking right sided player like in Rafa's 4-2-3-1, the same one used by Van Basten. He's not a proper right midefielder so i think we should get someone on the right if we do play 4-4-2 or whatever. I do agree about Babel playing second striker though, i think in a year or so him and Torres would be perfect together, but for now we need him on a wing as we're srtuggling to find wingers of his calibre, so for now at least keeping either 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 would be best until we get 2 wingers.

I think Benitez has the formations right. 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 both work well for us, and by using both we're less practicable, and it allows Benitez to spring a surprise on the opposition before a game without sacrificing a player that should start. We've gotta let Rafa play around with something, because he loves to tinker!
I agree with Mrtz. Benayoun is a very good, underrated and underused player. I like him a lot. Oh and against Besiktas he was as close to perfection as we've seen in a long time. |

Yeah, Rafa is known for tweaking tactics just enough to grind out a victory. If he can get a solid system going (as Sticky mentioned mixing up 4-4-2 with 4-2-3-1) then that'll be the thing that will push us over the top. We've been building the team for the past years he's been here, and I think we're a couple of players away from being able to utilize the system Rafa has of switching players and formations to keep the opposition guessing. We can easily start with 4-2-3-1 then take out Babel or Kuyt and switch them with Benayoun and go to a 4-4-2. Or we can put in a winger and have a Spain-like 4-1-3-2 with Babel and Torres up front. We've never had the luxury to have enough quality players to mix it up that much (especially on the flanks) but a couple of signings will make a world of difference.
It stinks that Benayoun doesn't quite fit into the formations Rafa has because we all know what he is capable of (as Sticky said against Besiktas). He is a great option coming off the bench though as he is very versatile and is a threat wherever he plays - left, right, or middle. I wanted him to start over Babel last season on the left because he is a more experienced and more composed player than Babel. He also has the passing creativity that Babel lacks, although I'm hoping Babel improves this summer because he has tremendous potential. |

Yeah, it doesn't look good for Benayoun. With Babel being a big signing, Rafa favours him, becasue he wants to get his money's worth. And he's younger and imrpvoing all the time. Then there's the fact that we will be bringing in at least another winger in the summer, and Kuyt gets deployed there a lot now as well. So games for Benayoun are going to sparse.
I think he is better than Kuyt and Babel when played out wide though. But if we sign Arshavin and Silva, it wouldn't be good for Yossi. West Ham last season showed how much they missed Benayoun's creativity. |

Right so you would buy a striker with the same credentials as Torres for 10 mil? Good luck |

Hopefully not no disrespect to milner who is a half decent player but from my own point of view i just dont think he's the type of player we need.....pennant is just as good and i hate the little git

You think? If we done a straight swap deal, Milner for Pennant i would be really p!ssed off. I think he can offer quite a bit to Liverpool. He is just as good on both wings and works as hard as anyone. I would be gutted if we sold him. He is one of my fave players and has done a great job for us for a number of years, without getting the good press that other players get (like Young, Bently and Downing). Part of me is happy that he does not get that noticed, it means there is a greater chance he will stay. However, maybe he thinks he might need to play on the bigger stage to get the praise that he deserves. I have read quite a few times that people don't rate him, but that is their opinion... |

To be honest you know better than me but from what ive seen im not that convinced plus he is english so that means small fortune.....
Also your right he does'nt get that much credit , i just think like pennant and downing they wont do agood enough job for Liverpool , although i have been very wrong before Last seasons prediction Torres maybe 20 goals in all competitions |
