THe problem with the players in the russian league tho isnt the transfer fees its the wages as they dont want to take a step down from the high wages they get over there.

Yeah i know, but Skrtel was bought from Zenit, so we can surely afford Arshavin's wages. Although he will probably be earnign a lot more than Skrtel did at Zenit, because he's an attacking player, and their main man.

As i said, this also could be the Summer where Arshavin feels he has to move, at his age it's really a now or never type situation for him to make an impact in a bigger League, after spending his entire career at Zenit.

At the moment we are going to be on a par with the likes of Middlesbrough, Bolton and West Ham next season. Spurs have got Modric and Dos Santos who are both very good players.

We are selling but not buying. Arshavin would be a good addition but I feel hes the sort of player who wont help when the going gets tough. Ashton wont be joining I am 99% sure of that.

Id still try and get Cuellar, he has been awesome when Ive seen him. Bafetimbi Gomis has been dreadful so far in the Euros and would be more inclined to target Guiza or Zigic.

If you are going to buy out of a tournament then so far I think Boruc has been good for Poland and Nigel De Jong in that midfield role for Holland.

Other than that the only other rumours I have heard are Arda Turan, Achilles Emana and Nicky Shorey, but I guess only Keegan knows who he wants.

Boruc has been absolutely class in both games. He made countless saves to deny Austria, and against Germany made probably the save of the tournament to deny Ballack.

Newcastle won't sign him though.

To be honest, i can't see much of an improvement at Newcastle. They are selling, but i can't see them buying anyone of real class. Or enough players of real class to make a difference. It's not looking good for them at the moment, and i wouldn't be surprised to see another poor/average season at Newcastle next season.

C'mon Keegan, pull ya finger out!

fakeplastictrees - I don't see how Blackburn are significantly better than us. They have just lost their manager and now Bentley wants to go. They might also lose Cruz. They are gonna finish out of the top 10 for sure.

Pothead Pixies - You have got to be kidding me about Middlesbrough and Bolton. We are not looking good but they are real bad.

Sticky T - I don't know why we would want Boruc in anyway.

I'm not convinced they will leave and even if they do they will probably get Big Sam who is proven at this level. Plus they still have a defensively solid and very well organised side and that alone puts them ahead of Newcastle. Plus they would have maybe £30m to spend from the Bentley/Santa Cruz sales if they do go. They've already got Gamst Pederson and Mccarthy who are good players and most importantly they are difficult to beat which picks you up countless points over the season.

Middlesbrough are a good team they just couldn't score. Now they have Afonso Alves plus a few contributions from Tuncay and they will be fine next year.

Middlesbrough are crap and they are not gonna improve much over the summer. I know they have Afonso Alves but how good is he? i know he was only there half of the season but he didn't do much. Plus they could lose their overrated left winger.

Im not saying we are better than Blackburn but they are not significantly better than us.

Im not taking the [beep!] right lads, but whoever said Bolton and Boro are on par with Newcastle need to think before they type.

Sorry, but howay man! I'm not one of these toon fans that say we should be challenging top 4 because thats unrealistic obviously, but rating Boro and Bolton on par with us is quite something.

Anyway, my team realistically for the new season would be something like this:

Given/Harper

Beye
Coloccini
Taylor
Enrique

N'zogbia
Arshavin
Butt
Turan

Zigic
Owen

Subs:
Harper/Given
Faye
Gomis
Martins
Huddlestone

Striker Michael Owen is looking to extend his stay at Newcastle after revealing negotiations have begun on a new deal at St James' Park...

Quote:

"We've just opened contract talks, we are talking," Owen told At The Races.

"I've got this season left regardless and we're working on a deal to stay longer.

"There'll probably be news in a month or two.

"This last year I played fully without hiccups to my knee. That's well behind me now."

As i said before posts got deleted, we signed 15 year-old Aaron Spears.

We've also signed Jonas Gutierrez from Real Mallorca, who is a right sided foreward:

Quote:
Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan has made his first signing of the summer with the acquisition of Argentina international Jonas Gutierrez.

The right-side forward arrives at St James' Park on a five-year deal after Newcastle concurred on an undisclosed fee with Real Mallorca.

Nicknamed 'Spiderman' for his elaborate goal celebrations, Gutierrez had previously been linked with a move to Portsmouth.

Keegan is confident Gutierrez, who turns 25 on Saturday, will quickly establish himself as a favourite in the North East.

Could this mean that we will allow James Milner to leave, should a bid be made for him?

Can he play both left and right wing? I still think we will keep Milner and we know he can play on both wings so i don't think we can say he is a replacement yet. I was watching skysports and they had the spanish expert on the phone and he says it is a pretty good deal depending on the fee. It has been said that we might have bought out his contract so the fee should be quite low. The player looks quite tall, well built and is said to be technically gifted, sounds like a good deal. I don't want to get too excited as we have had no luck in the past.

Not a right sided forward. Seen him play on the wing and in the centre of midfield. Did well for mallorca last season when i watched them. He can br a dirty player also. Also plays for argentina too

Well i am happy that Newcastle have made their first signing of the summer. Maybe we could add Superman and The Hulk to our new winger who is nicknamed Spiderman. Just a thought. I still think we need atleast four more players (5 if we feel the need to sack barton).

Experienced CB
Creative CM
Someone who can play both left and right back. We need cover for these positions and it would be good if Enrique had some competition.
Target man. I feel we need someone who can move as wel as hold the ball up. Last year we used Viduka who was hardly mobile at times. To be fair to Viduka, he did well at times but he is getting on. Maybe get someone young in.

I would sack Barton if we were able to get a replacement, but only if that was the case.

On the face of it it seems like a good signing for you guys does this, but then the words Albert Luque just scream out at you don't they surely?!

Well Albert Luque was a p!ss take. Our owner told the manager he would cost 2million. Then the owners son (who acted as Luques agent) come up with the fee of 10.5million. Bit strange...

For those who are bothered.....

Steven Taylor has signed a new three-year contract with Newcastle United. Very Happy Very Happy

Taylor told the club's official website: "I am thrilled to have signed this new contract. Newcastle United is my hometown club and the only team I've ever wanted to play for.

"I can't wait to get back into pre-season training next week and get stuck into the Prmeier League campaign next month."

This is great news! He can become a legend at this club and a future captain for sure. Cool

Big Kev "the Messiah" Keegan's summer rebuilding
