Chelsea to launch nationwide talent search. |
|
Chelsea are launching their own 'Pop Idol' to find the next budding football star.
One gifted lad from 15,000 hopefuls aged between 16 and 17 will be awarded a pro contract at the end of exhausting trials, which will be followed all the way by Sky TV. On the day manager Jose Mourinho threw his weight behind the search, he hailed Terry as a shining example to the thousands of wannabes. He added: "If you want to improve your team it is difficult and you have to produce. "I am curious about the kids who play street football. Sometimes it can be good to play without a coach. "In the street you can play free football. You can find boys with quality. I need a special player. If he cannot say 'I'm special' he cannot do it. You may call it arrogant but that's what I need." |
