Well, I can finally make a post......yahoo!! Cool

I was able to attend the U.S. - Canada which was nothing more than both 'B' teams with just a few of our players that will go to Germany. U.S. Coach Arena is looking for about 3-4 players to fill the final spots of those going to the WC.

The game was pretty much boring, ending 0-0. Eddie Johnson who will be going over to the WC most likely as a starting forward made his return after being injured but left again after a knock. This allowed Freddy Adu to make his 1st U.S. appearance which now means any talk of him playing for Ghana is over.

That probably was the highlight of the night, and I got my cap signed by defender Frankie Hejduk who's played with a few teams in the MLS as well as Bayer Leverkusen.......

U.S. will meet Norway again here in California next Sunday.

* Oh yes, I did forget to add that Adu's appearance makes him the youngest player to ever be capped for the U.S.

As I said in PM sorry to hear game wasn't the best but atleast you got to see some new talent eh.
Maybe I should post videos on here so everyone can see just why I think Hahnemann should be in the squad.

Freddy is good for a 16 year old, but he's not ready to take the world by storm. He has loads of talent and needs to play with and against the big boys. The skill is there, but his game has to grow mentally as well as physically.

I've said this before, I would love to see go abroad and improve his game. His girlfriend lives in Holland and that would be an excellent league for him to start with (i.e. Beasley, Gibbs at PSV/Feyenoord respectively), but the MLS is adamant about using him here in the states to promote the game, which I have no problem with as long as his game doesn't grow stagnant or regress.

Bottom line, he's our finest young talent, but needs to continue to get better in some areas and I think he can become a star if this is done in the right enviorment.

Hope I answered your question Putrum6, and didn't just confuse you...... Rolling Eyes

Yes Holland would be a good place for him. The young players can play a lof of minutes in holland teams. Perhaps in other leagues he would be in the bench often.

Well it is fairly obvious to say that his game won't grow playing in the MLS, so he really must seek a move abroad. Personally i don't see why he can't go to a strong league like the Premiership and start playing, look at Fabregas, Lennon or Milner for example. They have managed to work their way into their respective first teams. Messi is obviously a different league right now to all of them but he is playing first team at Barcelona. I reckon he could be playing first team football for a Premiership club.

Like I said, for me he needs to leave the MLS. As far as going to the EPL, I'd love to see that, but he's physically not ready for that challenge yet. He's not big at all, in fact you could safely say he is small, and I think playing in the dutch league would give him time to improve his game while his body grew. I'm not worried so much about his game as much as his physical presence, which I think would be a detriment to throw him in now and not only risk injuries, but see him get knocked all over, which is how I would coach against him at this point in his career.

Then again, Chelsea has spoken to him, he sat in there executive box in the summer when they played here in the U.S., and he said he'd love to play for them, so one never knows what might happen.

Adu sent home....

Freddy Adu was released from the U.S. national team training camp and will join D.C. United when it starts Major League Soccer preseason training next week.

The 16-year-old forward made his national debut as a late substitution in a scoreless draw against Canada on Jan. 22, then didn't play in Sunday's 5-0 win over Norway.

Preparing for the World Cup, the Americans play Guatemala on Feb. 19 at Frisco, Texas. European-based players will then be added to the roster for a March 1 game against Poland at Kaiserslautern, Germany. After that, the United States plays Germany on March 22 in Dortmund.

Freddy is still not ready yet......
