I hope you crush them. However, while this should be a close game, United have a formidable record against Villa and last season's results (4-0, 4-1 to United) don't leave me with much optimism of you taking points from this game.

I think it may be a little closer, but 0-2 is still my prediction.

United do have a great record against the Villa, however it means nothing really. United are not on the top of their game, and Villa have a very good side. It could be a close game, but I will got for a United 2-0 win.

I carn't see us winning but i said that about the arsenal game?
United we know are not on top of there game but they are quality through and through.
But there must be a time when we beat them and i think this is the right time to play them after our last game Very Happy

I think this is the biggest game of the season so far for United.

Since the Arsenal game I've got serious doubts of some of Fergies tactics and United's increasing tendency to use the long ball.

United had great patience last season and struck a near perfect balance between nice passing football and the long ball approach (to mix it up). This season they arn't quite as sharp. Maybe its a hangover from last years success but i hate that excuse with a passion.

A must win for United. Chelsea seem to be pretty much slip-up proof so far and Liverpool's confidence grows after every week. We also need to keep winning to keep the pressure on a faltering Arsenal. The gap must close or at least stay the same till Christmas. Glory Glory United.

Would love to see Tevez get a proper run and to see Rafael play again. He's been great so far this year.

0-1 United. Carrick to score a cracker from outside the box Smile

A tricky game considering the ridiculous international matches taking its toll on players especially Nani, Anderson and Ronaldo who had to travel all the way from Brazil and only returning on Thurs. Well I see a 1-0 to Utd

With Chelsea and Liverpool both dropping points, what an opportunity this is for Man Utd.

On the flip side, Arsenal getting battered 3-0 at Middle Eastlands will give Aston Villa a great opportunity to jump ahead of them in the race for 4th place.

Game on!

And it stays that way - 0-0 game over.

I wonder what the odds were on none of the big four scoring a goal??!!

Great result for the villa today considering our record against MAN U
Just thought we could have pressed more and got a win

I thought we should have had a penalty or even a free kick outside the box, when gabby was going through

Yes!!! What a result! I can't believe United failed to win this after watching all three of us, Arsenal and Chelsea drop points earlier in the day - it's the sort of opportunity on which you would bet your life on United capitalising.

They were actually better in the first-half after Villa started the first 5 minutes well, but still failed to really create that many chances. The possession was there for United but little clear chances came from it - other than the Park one, which i thought was a certain goal but for the amazing last-ditch tackle from Ashley Young.

Second-half was Villa's mostly, particularly the first 15 minutes which should have really seen them score. Likewise to United in the first-half they had a lot of possession, they were winning a hell of a lot more of the 50-50 balls and forced the pressure on their opponents from winning the ball back quickly - but like United, i still feel there was a lack of clear-cut chances created. In fact the best chance of the game came to Rooney, which he proceeded to sky well over. He approached the ball with a "I know i'm going to score" sort of body language, or that's what it came across as to me, he was very casual - i was as surprised as with the Park chance that it didn't result in a goal. Villa had a great chance at the end with Milner doing very well to get to the byline and lose O'Shea, but good defending from United.

The talking point of the game was the 'penalty incident' when Agbonlahor ran through down the left and went shoulder to shoulder with Vidic, but still i'm not 100%. I think there's a case it was a free-kick because he was clearly beating Vidic for pace but the Serbian central defender used his arm to keep up and grappled Agbonlahor's shirt clearly. Whether it was a penalty depends on for me whether Vidic got the ball when making his challenge. I thought he did, stopping the ball dead, but watching it repeatedly again and again it looks like his foot actually goes over the ball and takes Agbonlahor out with his sort of shin coming on top of the ball to stop it. It's really close to call.

The ref on a whole had a very good game and was balanced in his approach, not swayed by the home crowd and neither by the big, intimidating visiting club.

The pull was outside the box and Gabby went down falling into the box I reckon. A free kick just outside the box is what should be given.
