Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has dismissed talk of a move to Manchester United.
Owen said: "I would have regretted it all my life if I hadn't gone to Real Madrid when I got the chance.

"You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of players who have turned them down.

"You only have to watch a game at the Bernabeu to understand why any player in the world would want to join them.

"It's a fantastic team with unbelievable players, the stadium holds 85,000 fans and they have incredibly modern training facilities. On top of all that was the chance to play in a different country, learn a new language and experience a new lifestyle.

"There are many things in life which make you more rounded as a person and as a player and I have no regrets at all about moving to Madrid."

The hitman spent much of the campaign on the bench as Madrid trailed in behind bitter rivals Barcelona and failed to make any impression in the Champions League.

New faces are certain to arrive at the club in the next few weeks, with unsettled United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy top of their shopping list.

Yet Owen makes it clear that he has no intention of becoming the makeweight in an Old Trafford exchange deal. He said: "My situation is fine and I'm very happy at Real Madrid.

"People have asked why I'd go from first-choice at Liverpool to fourth-choice at Madrid but I've never believed in taking the easy option.

"Anyone who has watched the entire season at Real would say I've been a success. Of course, we didn't win anything - and for a club like Real Madrid that has to be rectified.

"But I started the last 10 games, which were important ones as we tried to get back into the title race and - though there has been a lot of speculation - it's been a good year for me."

I heard that Newcastle were in for him!

I cannot see Madrid letting him go to be frank!

He is their best striker and would eb mad to let him go, Newcastle are reported to be lining up an £18million bid for him though.

Yeah the game play is a bit calmer and slower, so he has more time for his finishing. I think him going to United would be a great move as i have said it for a while now. But to go to Newcastle I dont think it would be good for him, but great for Newcastle.

Sounds like he is really keen to stay at Real, Man U are one of the few cllubs that could lure him away tho i reckon, Liverpools another. Dont think he would consider a move to Newcastle tho.
