As Pompey vs Man City is postponed due to a frozen pitch and this is only one of a dozen games postponed during the winter period should PL teams be forced to have at least a minimum stadium standard including undersoil heating ?

I think yes, it is a shame that teams playing in the highest league have to postpone a game because they are unable to guarantee a clear pitch.

I thought it was a minimum of skills standard like passing and controlling the ball Laughing
You would have thought with the money they make PL teams would anticipate that kind of problems.

It is poor that a premier league side can't have their pitch ready for a game. You would think the F.A. would have ground standards that have to be adhered. Lower leagues it is expected due to the costs of ground work and under pitch heating but premier it should be a requirement or other measures should be available to avoid situations were games have to be postponed.

I thought that the FA enforced that kind of thing - so you had to have that as minimum requirements. But I think its shocking that 2 games were called off. With all the money thats in the Premier League, you'd think that some of it would be to stop gate receipts being void for a week. Awful.

Does anybody think Portsmouth and Fulham should be both fined for calling off their games today?

In the SPL all clubs are required to have Undersoil heating. And alot of games are not cancelled unless someone dies (i.e Phil O'Donnoll) out a mark of respect

It works up here so england may as well give it a go.

I think thats the plan. I seem to remember Birmingham calling a game off a couple of seasons back, and the fine was through the roof....

I think PL teams shouldn't be punished by a heavy money fine, the home team which isn't able to guarantee a clear pitch should simply be punished by the away team being given the 3 points for a win and the game should be quoted 0:3 that's it.

i agree with the opening post.

it is ridiculous that in this day and age we have games called off. it should never be happening in the top flight of the richest league in the world.
