If Ronaldo does leave United, as is widely reported, what would United do? Today proved that he is an incredible player, and almost pieces the team together. But is there a player out there that would want to come to United?

I don't see anyone else who could come and step into Ronny's green boots. He is the one player who can really play us to that standard. Yes, he isn't in his best form, but we need to begin to think of life after him. He won't be with us for a lot longer, so Fergie needs to start thinking about what he plans to do....

Arshavin, Ribery and Messi are perhaps the only players of similar class in that part of the field.

However, you haven't a hope in hell of signing Messi, it's unlikely Ribery would leave Bayern. and Arshavin isn't proven in a top league.

I don't think that's what you should focus on though.

You have Park, who is very good. You need to bring in another quality winger, but not to replace Ronaldo. The focus should be on signing a world class central midfielder who can control games, because Scholes isn't gonna be around for much longer.

Also, if you can get the best out of Nani, then he's a hell of a prospect.

But let's say you sold Ronaldo for £50m, with that money you could buy Diego, Ashley Young, and a bakcu-up winger.

We should have sold him this sumemr - and taken £75m and Sergio Ramos.

Yes, Nani seems good, but he's a very selfish player. He's someone who needs a bit of a Fergie hairdryer to sort him out...

And all the other players who are of a similar calibre are nearing their 30's - so would be a waste of money anyway...

What? Ribery and Messi aren't nearing their 30's. Or did you mean the ones that are available?

I also think you need to replace Tevez, as he'll surely go.

Ideally, you would get Benzema.

I think if you lsot Ronaldo and Tevez, and replaced them with Benzema, Young and Diego you would be a better team than you currently are.

Benzema would work better with Berbatov, Diego would control and dictate the play, in a mature, intelligent way which Anderson isn't capable of. He'd also chip in with goals, unlike Anderson, whose shooting shooting is poor. Diego has a cracking shoot, and can take over from Ronaldo on set peice duty. He'd probably be th closest you could get to the Scholes of old.

And there's Ashley Young, who has proven himself to be one of the best wingers in the country, he has the pace, crossing, and can get goals. He'd probably be the best option to fill the void Ronaldo would leave.

Also, those 3 players are young. All below 25 years of age.

I wouldn't sign Benzema because he'll only sit on the bench. Unless we demoted Berbatov, then we'd have Rooney and Benzema which would be a good partnership.

Diego is definitely a singning I'd approve of, quality player.

As for Ronaldo he's irreplacable. The only player in the world up to it is Messi and he's out of the question. Ashley Young is a nice player but he's not in the same universe as Ronaldo. A player like Ronaldo doesn't come along so often and right now there's no-one out there who we could sign.

That's why you don't try and replace him. You have to disperse the quality over different areas.

I'm guessing from you're first paragraph, that you're implying Rooney won't ever be replaced even by better players. because he's a manager and fan favourite. That's true, but eventually you will have to improve in that area, and sign someone better, unless Rooney ups his game, and fulfills his potential.

Benzema and Berbatov would form a fine partnership, as would Benzema and Rooney.

Rooney will only leave after Ferguson I'm afraid.

Did it really? I think we may have watched different matches Confused He wasn't even on my top 3 or 4 players today...

1. Giggs.
2. Rooney.
3. Evans/Vidic.

He'd have been in contention for fourth with Park and Berbatov.

Buy:

Silva, Diego, Ribery

A new midfield. Wink

I think there are still quite hefty areas for improvement in United's side, so selling Ronaldo for a lot of money and spreading it over those multiple positions would be the way to negate his loss.

Aguero would do a nice job and he's going to get bigger and better.

As Ben91 says though, the cash banked after Ronaldo transfer should be more than enough to bring in a couple of high class players.

We tried to buy Silva in the summer, Valencia accepted our offer. He'd be a United player by now if he wanted to come.

Oh yes, i forgot that. I remember now he said he didn't want to come to England. If Valencia are forced to sell he'll probably stay in Spain.

I imagine he'll join Real Madrid at some point. Personally I'd like that see him at Barcelona, what a side they'd have then.

What planet did you say you were from?

Ronaldo "incredible". why i must ask?
Ronaldo "pieces the team together". Surely you are not talking about todays game?

Ronaldo was an effective striker against decent team LAST YEAR ,but not top quality teams. This year he's even struggled against decent teams ,noted he's coming off of an injury ,but that isn't enough to bail him out when you consider he was ordinary before the injury playing for Portugal in the Euro's.
Trust me Man U won't miss him if he leaves.I think they will miss his free kicks to a degree but i think they have others who can fill that role. Right now i think United have enough talent maybe too much.what i think they need to do is shop for some young talent to bring through in a few years which will make them stronger in the long run.
I just don't think they can risk bringing in another massive player with what they already got ,it's just too much.

Not quality teams? He was the best stricker of the Champions League and he scored in the final against Chelsea!..

My good friend . He did actually play better than he usually does against Chelsea in the Champions league Final ,not because of the goal because that was an error in marking ,but because he tried very hard to have an effect. But for 80% of that match he was invisible,he also missed a crucial penalty. He's not a king by any stretch of the imagination and if you dig out any of his games for the last two season against Arsenal ,Chelsea or Liverpool you will see for yourself.
By the way he was the highest scorer in the champion league that is correct and if i were 10 years old i would be impressed with that number as was Fifa and all of their geriatrics fools. But the fact is that he plays in the midfield role and never got one assist according to fifa stats. That's ridiculous for a player in his position and he basically had to play a strikers role from the midfield position because he can't handle the striker role from up front. If you compare his stats with that of Drogba in the past Champions league matches then you will see who is superior in the big games. Sorry ,but it's the truth. He's a fine player ,but overrated extremely.

I am pretty sure United told him last transfer window that if he stays one more season he can leave after that, so they have a whole season to prepare for LAF (life after ronaldo) and im sure SAF has a trick or two up his sleeve.

without Ronaldo i think Man Utd will completely become a useless team ......Rooney will have to score all the goals and he will be under so much pressure he will do someone and get banned for 6 matches ....Berbatov will then realise that while being top dog at Spurs he is only one of many stars at Old Trafford and buckle under the pressure ......he will start to miss cahnce after chance and wish he was back at Spurs ..

Harry Redknapp will after hearing this tell the media that he would love Berbatov back at White Hart Lane , he will say that if Man Utd wanted to sell him he would make a bid , but at the moment he is a Man Utd player so they dont have to sell him .

Sir Alex will then indicate that it is no fun anymore and say he is retiring at the end of the season ......and is looking forward to enjoying his retirement and new bird racing hobby , with the huge wages bill and the club still in big financial debt ....the board will say they need a low cost manager to take over .

Steve Mclaren on hearing this will ring and Man Utd will appoint him on a 6 month trial despite fans and media asking are they off their brolly ...

6 months later ......Man Utd are relagated to The Championship after failing to win a single game .....even losing to Tottenham ...Steve Mclaren will say `bloody hell` and then resign ...

all this because Ronaldo left ...... Shocked
