Chilean central defender Jorge Vargas insists he expects to move to Villarreal in the summer.
The 30-year-old currently plays for Livorno and has been in Italy for the best part of six years having also had spells at Empoli and Reggina.
However, he is now targeting a switch to Spain's Primera Liga and claims Villarreal have informed him they will move for him at the end of the season.
Vargas played under Villarreal boss Mauricio Pellegrini at Universidad Catolica earlier in his career and held talks with Pellegrini over a move in the January transfer window.
