Man Utd legend Cantona slams Lazio's Di Canio |
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has slammed Lazio hero Paolo Di Canio.
Asked who, of the current day stars, he would pay to see, Cantona replied: "Before I answer, I must say for who I would never pay a ticket for... Paolo Di Canio. "He is not a great player and is not a great man. "I would pay to see, in order, Ronaldinho, Henry, Rooney, Zidane. All those players are good for young people, who dream to be like them one day. They feed the ambitions. They are the players who most help football." |

The more i read about Cantona the more i am impressed. I read an interview with him a couple of days ago and he has Jose mourinhio totally sussed out.
Maybe he should be a condidate for the Newcastle job? |

I dont know about that, i think Cantona knows he is a legend in England and wouldnt want to tarnish his repuatation by taking a managerial job then screwing it up. |

Hahaha good man! Le King is indeed a [beep!] legend! And by the looks of it, a good judge of character. Long live the King!

does Cantona elaborate any further on why he does not rate Di Canio at all as a player or person .
The Fascist salute must have had a lot to do with it.
I must agree with everything Eric said in the above statement.....

Unless Cantona knows Paulo personally, he can't judge him as a man. Plus, Di Canio is a top class player and always has been. I mean he's still playing at the top. Where was Cantona at this age?
Are you bringing Eric Cantona's status as a player into question? You're a fool!
Ok.
Di Canio is still playing at the highest level. Who is Cantona to judge his persona and his playing? Whenever Cantona couldn't cut the mustard at that age. Di Canio is a class player and always was. |

In a recent ESPN poll, Cantona is in the list of most popular ever players in the English Premiership.
But the topic here is about Di Canio. You will probably remember one incident when he played for Sheffield Wednesday. It was disgusting to me. He got sent off and then he pushed referee Graham Poll to the ground. He is a class player. But he's only class when his temper doesn't get the better of him. |

I am no Man Utd fan but i know about Cantona. He was an excellent player . Eric Cantona was a lot better than Di Canio |

I wasn't comparing the players at all. Cantona shouldn't judge Di Canio though. Di Canio was a great player for me and Cantona can't really say what kind of man he is (Cantona being a guy who karate-kicked a fan during a game).
Di Canio has a temper for sure. Lets himself down a lot of the times. It's part of who he is. I loved watching him with a ball though. |

Haha i thought that was funny! Graham Poll milked it though and i love Di Canio for doing that! But his fascist salute kind of ruined any respect i had for the guy. |

I 100% agree with Eric

Used to like the guy a lot. But no fascism please.

He has been a fantastic footballer and entertainer throughout his footballing career. Celtic were lucky enough to have him play in the green and white hoops, although i completely disagree with what he has done, i still think he is a legend.
Yea. He was being ridiculous for the patheticness of the salute fiasco. But one night of madness doesn't blind my outlook on his great footballing ability.
I agree it was harsh of me to judge based on that night. I thought he was a new man when he played for West Ham, after that Graham Poll incident.
Still, the salute highlights and reflects what the player really believes in. And I hate it. |

Eric is really impressing me too...
I do have to say that I´m also a little sourprised, but I take the chance to tell this to you guys that know him better.. Do Eric Cantona played some "baddly tackle way" for a certain period of his carrer? Did he also have some trouble with some espectators during games and react violently? |
