we never want to see any player has this kind of injury on the pitch.
i think he'll be out for a long long time.... Sad
good luck to him.

He wont be back until next season. Fergie said it was the worst Injury he'd seen in football so that must be saying something Sad

Its terrible for Smith! He is such a passionate player.

On the day, Liverpool were better, they outplayed us, dominated the game, and will now go on to win the cup in my opinion.

Tell you one thing, this Liverpool side just keeps on improving! They could seriously challange for the league next season!

i`m so glad Liverpool are through , it was a sickener for Alan Smith though , no one likes to see injuries like that happen to players .

Well only the Carling Cup now for Man Utd provided they can beat Wigan of course , i bet they would swap their place in the final to be where Arsenal are in the Chapions League with a match against Real Madrid coming up .

Great result Liverpool, looked really good and a striker even scored. But Smith's injury was sickening and I feel so sorry for him. I like Smith, he's a real terrier and fighter - hopefully his rehabilitation will reflect that.

Liverpool dominated the game.

Shame about Smith's leg and ankle but I dont think it will be a major loss for Man U or England.

Very Happy

Well lets hope they live up to the promise then. Throughout my lifetime as a Liverpool fan, that remains the only prize I have yet to see the side lift. Not counting the not so important World Club Championship of course.

Rafa Benitez is the greatest thing that ever happened to Liverpool. In my lifetime that is ... before anyone starts giving me a mouthful about Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.

It sure was a sickener for poor Alan Smith,as much as i hate Manchester United, and believe me i really hate them with a passion,it was sad to see such a terrible injury to a true professional, there aren't many players like Smith around who play with so much passion but one thing is for sure he will show all his passion again by coming back and proving it all again

Good Luck Alan Smith

Smith is out for up to 10 months now, he might not even be back until 2007. He had surgery earlier today and it was sucessful. Smiths agent says its not career threatening which is great news

And Steven2005 what do you mean it wont be a big loss?? We only have 2 fit centre midfielders left now, it was already bad enough with Giggs, Richardson, Rooney and Ferdinand all having to play in centre mid but Fletcher and Ritchie Jones are the only natural midfielders we have left.

I wont say much about the game, Foreverunited summed everything up really, no passion, terrible formation, wasting Rooney on the right, playing Ronaldo ahead of Park

I won't be saying that so soon. We haven't beaten Brum in our last four games. In the process, we also scored two own goals. Plus its an away tie.
