Messi. He has done many more things than Rooney at his age

Not necessarily, Rooney was one of the best players at Euro 04 but Messi hasnt played in a major tournament yet.
Its hard to choose though, both players are excelent. Ive seen a lot more of Rooney but recently he hasnt been at his best. I honestly dont know who I think is better but simply because ive seen more of him ill go for Rooney. |

I'd pick Rooney in my team over any other player in the world. That says it all. Messi isn't fit to lace Rooney's boots. You can't even compare them! Rooney is relied upon by his national team and Messi doesn't even get a look in and I'd say as a group of players (not necessarily a team) Argentina and England are pretty equal.

Messi does play for Argentina and he was their best player last week, scoring a goal and setting up another all in the first 5 minutes. He looks set for the World Cup too

I know Messi is talented. But as long as he is playing by ronaldinho sides, it is hard to judge yet. And as for Rooney eventho I know he is talented, he still has to impress me.
If we are talking about golden kids, dont forget to mention Robinho and Podolski. Judging from everyone has achieved so far I will go like this: 1. Robinho 2. Rooney 3. Messi 4. Podolski |

Robinho hasnt achieved much, hes having a very poor and unconsistant season with Real.

What?? He's doing an amazing second round, and has scored more than Messi!! |

I wasnt judging their performances based on this season. You should have seen him when he were playing in Santos. He was great during the Confederation Cup too. I dont think he is doing bad this season either. Just give him a little time to adapt. Would love to see him play by ronaldinho sides in the world cup. But this is unlikely to happen because there are Ronaldo, Adriano and Kaka who have more experience. |

Sorry I can't judge on Roonie, I haven't seen him much.
I can honestly talk about Messi though and not only because I'm a Barça fan. Even with cracks like Ronaldino, Deco or Eto'o on his side, this season Barça people are cheering Messi over any other player. He's the current favourite in the Camp Nou. That says a lot about a 17 years old (I think?). Don't forget that because of Messis' age, neither Rijkaard nor the Argentinian coach did give him many opportunities, but since he played the friendly game against Juventus at the beginning of the season the future changed for him. That match was definitive, so much that suddenly someone like Cappello said that if he could only sign one player he would sign Messi, he was that impressed by him after only one match!!! Even someone like Maradona says Messi is his only real successor. Do you need more examples? I guess not. Messi is really stellar and he plays like he's 27, such is his confidence and calm, and he is only really a teen... Maradona exploded at his age too, so I expect a bright future for Messi. |

Despite both being young they are at different stages of their careers. Rooney's in a knuckling down stage, where everyone knows his game and he gets a lot of attention from defenders. He's also part of an unsettled team. Messi's the new golden boy, people have yet to work him out - hence Mourinho's recent obsession with him. He's having that magic start that Rooney also went through and is playing with a truly wonderful team. I can't split them - both wonderful talents and great to watch. That's enough for me.

Messi's the new hero in a team full of heroes. Man U and Barca are oceans apart! I don't have much trouble deciding. I've seen a lot of Messi and he's an awesome talent. Every edge of his game is so admirable. |

Hasn't Maradona said the same thing about Tevez? If you compare Pele with Maradona, then Robinho would still leading. And concerning Messi beeing the current favourite in the Camp Nou, if Rijkaard is given the hard task to choose between Ronaldinho and Messi, who would he pick? Like I said earlier, we should cross our fingers and wait. |

for me Messi is more technical and better skilled, while Rooney is better in physical terms. if i had choose one for my team, i wouldnt hav no doubts: Lionel Messi!

Lies! Messi has scored 1 more goal in 2006 in La Liga than Robinho playing half minutes, see stats next time. |

and you, before talking, read what I wrote, and you'll see I didn't say in La Liga, because there have been more matches in Copa del Rey, but you don't count them because Barcelona was eliminated first or what??

Messi is one of those players who can create things out of nothing. Some people say he is the next Maradonna!! He must be good |
