Carlos Alberto Torres has left his post as coach of the Azerbaijan national team, according to reports.

Torres watched his side lose 3-0 to Poland at the weekend, a result that left Azerbaijan bottom of World Cup Qualifying Group Six, with just two points from seven games so far in their campaign.

Torres took over as head coach in February 2004, but he only managed to guide the team to two friendly wins during his time in charge.

The Brazilian, who captained his country to glory in the 1970 World Cup, was sent from the dugout during the defeat at home to Poland on Saturday after arguing with the match officials.

In the away match in Poland back in March, Azerbaijan were thrashed 8-0.

I thought he got sacked. And if so deservedly so, we dont want remarks like he shown against Poland in football. Great decision. But we must say, he done a great job there.
