Germany cruised into the Euro 2005 semi-finals with a comfortable, clinical win over Italy at Deepdale.
They took control of the match from the off and skipper Birgit Prinz slotted the opener with a cool right-footed finish after just 11 minutes. Conny Pohlers made it two moments later with a rifled drive and Stefanie Jones glanced a header home after the break. Italy conceded a fourth when Anja Mittag followed up to score after Carla Brunozzi parried her intial penalty. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Italy: Brunozzi, Zorri (Boni 75), Di Filippo, Tona, Panico, Camporese, Pasqui, Masia, Schiavi (Delana 46), Ficarelli, Conti (Domenichetti 51).
