Well, as we all know there is a part of me which dislikes Seger
but the other part admits she's a promissing young footballer
so I guess I wouldn't be crying if she signed MFF, neither would I if she wouldn't Wink

I would be sooo happy if that happened, but obviously Kel would have to go to Sweden (better league) because Seger wouldn't come here Cool

We should make our own womens team...with the players we liked all playing nicely together Cool i.e; Smith & Seger

...but I don't think MFF are very interesting at Segers services, so I don't think you should worry cos that is not current at the moment... They already have that kind of player, who is rating much higher than Seger in Skåne (the south district in Sweden). Nilla Fischer Very Happy

Rolling Eyes I like Nilla but she isn't better than Seger IMO
but all is good because Seger should stay at LFC untill she reaches her full potential & we win the league...then she can leave if she wants...She's from that region (Skåne) isn't she? Helsingborg or somewhere like that? (Henrik Larsson territory Wink )

Yeah I was gonna direct you straight to Seger territory....muahahahaha!! Twisted Evil Wink

Fischer better than Seger? And who is playing in the national team right now? Smile But Fischer I can see in our nat.team soon. It's just that we have a pretty strong line-up in the midfield, and I just don't see her playing instead of Moström, Sjögran or Sjöström. I liked it when she was playing in the defence in MFF, so she can be useful in both positions.

Training matches:
Umeå - Sunnanå 2-1 (UIK: Malin Moström, Maria Bergkvist. SSK: Madelaine Edlund)
Linköping - Bälinge 2-1 (LFC: Josefin Öqvist, Maria Aronsson (assisted by Seger Twisted Evil ), BIK: Minna Mustonen)
KIF Örebro - Hammarby 0-0
Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC - Holmalund 1-0
Falköping - QBIK 0-7 (Anna Nilsson 3, Maureen Mmdou 3, Jennifer Meier)

I was gonna mention that but scared I'd get chewed up & spat out Laughing I hope she does get in the national team - she was in Cyprus wasn't she? (got subbed out by Seger's after about 30mins Confused maybe she was injured)
All is good though Sweden National Team needs to bring through young talented players, which she is one of Wink

Yeah, but now we got to remember that we are talking about a NT where Linda Fagerström plays at... Dennerby prefer her instead of young future stars. And in every NT game I watch, Seger has not been good. So I hope she doesn't come to MFF...

I don't think Seger is born in Helsingborg, but pretty near I think. I used to play against her when we were kids and back then she didn't play in Stattena (the team in Helsingborg).

nice, was she a good player back then? bet she was Cool
To prove her critics
*cough* Agent Smith *cough* Smithy *cough*wrong and tell us she didn't hurt you or any of your team....for some strange reason people think she's a little violent/causes trouble Rolling Eyes dunno what their thinking Wink

Yeah I'm not that fond of his decision too every time Wink He is doing the exact same as Marika became criticized for, he is keeping some of his favourite players in the team.
To be honest I don't think Fischer will make it in time for the WC next year, he didn't let enough newbies play during the Cyprus camp or algarve I think. So we will pretty much see the same team playing all the qual. matches this year and the WC too. Even if she makes it into the team, she will probably be a sub hoping for 10 mins Rolling Eyes

what is the deal with the Swedes not wanting to give their young new players senior team experience?
I know that the older players in the squad are all fantastic players like: Moström, Sjögran, Sjöström, Ljungberg & Svensson but they are getting older and won't be around forever...then Sweden will find themselves in a position where they will have a inexperienced squad that will not measure up. I liked the Algarve with the new lasses but there wasn't that many of them and Dennerby always had his big names with him when needed.
I know England have been forced to field a young squad recently because they have been the better players and Hope is using what is available to her. But surely a team like Sweden would have a contingency plan in place for the future, by starting now Sweden could give future players more experience alongside the regulars then they would build confidence (within the new players and the team in general) and the future would be catered for.

just my opinion, feel free to disagree... Wink

Just some stats to support what you are saying smoggie Wink

These are the players plus their age this year, that have played in the nat.team 2006.

Those marked with * are those I think seem to have a pretty solid spot in the team.

Jönsson, Caroline 29*
Lindahl, Hedvig 23* (I wish Dennerby could make up his mind on who's the no 1 goalie)
Lundgren, Sofia 24
Almgren, Johanna 22
Aronsson, Maria 23
Bergkvist, Maria 29
Fagerström, Linda 29*
Fischer, Nilla 22
Karlsson, Maria 23
Larsson, Sara 27*
Ljungberg, Hanna 27*
Lundin, Therese 27*
Marklund, Hanna 29*
Moström, Malin 31*
Näfver, Caroline 24
Olsson, Salina 28*
Paulson, Anna 22
Schelin, Lotta 22*
Seger, Caroline 21*
Segerström, Stina 24
Sjögran, Therese 29*
Sjöström, Anna 29*
Svensson, Victoria 29*
Westberg, Karolina 28*
Östberg, Frida 29*

A few missing from last year, Sara Thunebro 27, Anna-Maria Eriksson 30, Jane Törnqvist 31, Josefine Öqvist 23, and Sara Johansson 26. 30 players in all.
All these players are those I think Dennerby has in mind when he chooses his team.
That gives an average age of >26 which is pretty good. But 11 of those players will turn 30 or more next year. And most of them are in the starting line-up for competitive matches.
In three years from now 17 players will have turned 30 or more, that is more than half the team!
Sweden are now going thru a generation change they say, but are we really?
Now, I of course want to keep most of them since I like them Laughing and it's hard to let go of old "stuff" Twisted Evil but I totally agree with you smoggie, we haven't let our newbies (I mean newbies as in not having played that much in the nat.team) get that much experience.

Maybe our line-up would look like this in a few years Cool

Lindahl, Lundgren, Almgren, Aronsson, Fischer, Johansson, Karlsson, Näfver, Paulsson, Schelin, Seger, Segerström, Öqvist.
