Id like to know peoples full feelings on the England squad and their real chances of lifting the World cup if they qualify for next year in Germany!

Surely it is their best chance ever with the crop of players they have and the length of time the squad has been together!

That coupled with the exciting youngsters on the brink.......Can they win it an why?

I dont think they will win the World Cup, thay have the players needed to do the job but Sven isnt the best tactician in the world and tactics often let him down, the goalkeeping options is poor too with Robinson getting injured more frequently and Jame not up to standard and Green, in my opinion, sub-standard.

The defense, strike force and midfield are world class though.

They have the talent. But I dont beleive they have the manager or coaching staff. I think if some good english manager got in charge then definetley. For me Quater finals maybe Semi's the furthest.

We have the talent , but how many times has everyone said this is the year we will win the world cup. It seems as though we have the talent to win it every time but the team never really lives up to expectations and delivier.

i am still undecided on whether or not we can win . . . i would like to say yes we can win it though.

I think there are better teams out there, and don't think England have what it takes. As people have mentioned, Sven is not great. He is overpaid and is only still at the healm because the FA cannot affort to pay up his contract and end up looking stupid.

I will however be supporting them throughout, and hope. I would love to see them win the trophy.

Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Italy all have a better chance in my opinion.

I do think we tend to go in for blind optimism a lot of the time. But in Euro 2000 any realist could have seen we had no chance. I predicted, and was right, that both we and Germany would go out in the group stage then. I then predicted for 2002 that we would reach the quarters. And again for 2004. and this time I am predicting that we win it.

I am usually a pessimist, but its just apure hunch, rather than patriotism.

I believe we have been building towards what we have now ever since the disaster of euro 2000, and now is the time when it will all come together.

Brazil and Argentina yes. But history is against them. Only once have either of these two won a trophy outside of Latin America. (Sweden 5Cool.

Spain are overrated. And Italy will be defeated by negativity yet again.

the Netherlands though are a team I do rate, along with Germany - the home team always gets the rub of the green in these things.

But as I said thsi is the most optimistic I've ever been about the England football team, if they can build on the last two tournaments they will win it.

I think it's ours for the taking.

No need to travel half-way round the world, world class players, good manager (remember we've never lost a qualifier under Sven, and only beaten in competitive matches by Brazil & France, any international manager would kill for that record!).

We really have never had a better chance of winning, and I think we will.

I do not think we are going to have an european champion unless it has a lot of nationalized or sons of immigrants from either Africa or the Americas like France's team in 1998. I think football is improving a lot in Africa, and the sport is becoming like boxing where europeans are not the best at it, and Africans and latin americans excelled with far fewer resources.

I don't think England will ever win anything under Sven, he's just too defensive without playing a spoiling game leaving the team a bit of a mess and he is unable to beat a stronger team than his own. Brazil have an unbeleivably strong side at the moment and really should win with amazing quality all over the pitch, and still a year for the precocious talents of Kaka, Robinho, Adriano and Diego to mature. They probably have the best international manager at the moment, although Lippi at Italy is also fantastic and can probably do well in 2006 once he is finished experimenting.
England really only lack a great keeper, but that can certainly make a big difference, could also do with some arial presence.
Bookies make England 3rd favourites behind Brazil and Argentina. I think thats generous.
Spoiling teams such as Mexico and Greece could do well, unfortunately.

You have left out Rooney! Carragher must be almost certain to go ahead of Ledley King now aswell.

I think you're crazy.

You'd leave out the like of Rooney, Carragher, SWPhillips?

I suppose you can only take one of either Rooney or Darren Bent, but i beg to differ!
