Game started well with Li getting two early goals, then came the Emma Byrne 'slip up' could not believe it, very simple slow back pass that she took a swing it and completely missed only to stand and watch it trickle over the goal line. In her defence the pitch was wet and the ball even wetter!

Then i think Fleets got one and i remember Bham netting one from a corner in a bit of a goal moth scramble but Arsenal finished it off.

Fleets came off and then later Scott i think, replaced by Champ and Gemma Davison.

It was a good game, i mean after Li's two early goals you thought here we go again and as the rain fell i thought of leaving at half time but im so glad i didnt as Bham came out firing in the second half. They enjoyed more of the possession and Maggs and Carney linked up really well. I think its the first time ive seen Carney in the flesh and i was so impressed withher, esp at such a young age, and to get into the senior England squad..wow!

She reminds me of a young Kelly Smith in her hunger and determinationa dn desire to win every thing be it a tackle or a loose ball even if the odds are stacked against her she just puts it in right up to the final whistle!

And Maggs, not the tallest player but i havent seen much of her since she left Arsenal but what a menace. The communication between her and Carney was superb and they looked for each other when ever the other was on the ball and you kow sometimes when two players just click...well they did! and always priasing each other even if the move didnt quite come off.

And Carney obviously not phased by her opponents and willing to take on the likes of Yanks and two others with a quick trick or turn and then shes off!

Bham have alot of games in hand and i really hope they lift them selves off the bottom of the division cos they really looked alot better than some of the teams that have come to Arsenal and i fear should they down this season they will lose the likes of Carney who did look frustrated alot of times during the game and i hope a better club snaps her up should she want a move.

In all, as you may of guessed by now, the Karen 'Kezza' Carney fan club has a new member, but the Emma 'oops where has the ball gone' Byrne fan club may have lost one lol Wink

With about five mins left to play Ludlow came and sat in the stands, she looked like she had just got back from the airport as she had loads of bags and still had the tages on themfrom the airport.

The non first team players were sitting close by and she joined them. They asked how the game went and she said one one so im guessing just back from interbational duty.

BUT she also had with her an x ray and her hand was all wrapped up as she said it could be broken!

And what a strong accent she has! x

Thanks for the game report spikeyd, I was too tired to do it last night - came back home at midnight Wink

I agree about Karen, she was brilliant, it's amazing what a fighter she is and she's still so young Cool
She was the MVP of the game for me, well done.

Thanx for posting the scores Twmcat, perhaps you shouldn't have posted the times though
- it takes some time to type a message, then to send it and so on, so the times are not when the goals actually happened.

Emma's Little Johnny-up was hilarious Laughing Everyone was laughing at her, it was the most stupid thing I've seen her do and I've seen a lot Mr. Green
Basically she could have make an effort and go after the ball which was heading towards the goal
because the ball slowed down and went in crawling - and Emma just stood there, 3 miles from the goal as usual,
with her hands on her hips, looking at the ball like that: Confused probably regretting that she didn't run after it Laughing

I was very disappointed with Kelly's play last night,
she wasn't able to produce any good ball.
In fact every time she was on the ball, she was either losing it, or missing, or making a wrong pass.
The worst I've seen of her ever.
But she managed to entertain the crowd anyway,
when the ref whistled and gave the ball to Birmingham when Kelly was on it,
he annoyed her so much that she kicked the ball at his legs real hard Laughing
He didn't think it was on purpose but as far as I know miss Smith I think it was Twisted Evil

Fleets had some problems with her leg again
and had to be subbed for the second half Sad

Sanderson, Phillip, Asante and Tracy had a good game,
when for example Ciara Grant did not exist.
I am really wondering what the hype about her is, she's a very inconsistant player.
Faye White did not have a good game either
- she made a few wrong passes and basically sucked last night Twisted Evil

And to give Emma some credit, she made a few brilliant saves Cool
so I forgive her that first goal, it was quite entertaining anyway Wink

Sorry Agent S - I meant to point out in my post that they were the times I got the texts Embarassed

I thought it would be an idea to have a rough idea of how things were going time-wise.

We could make a gag reel of Emma's bloopers this season Laughing . But she saves more than she mucks up so allowances can be made. Was surprised that Fleets played with it being mid-week , are the scottish schools on half term Wink Sounds like it was a good game , but what's with Faye White these past couple of games , not been the same since her ankle injury.
Great match reports from Spikeyd and Agent S Smile and big thanks to Twm for his posting of the score's as they went in , very professional Laughing Wink

Believe me, Emma had a great game y'day except that one Little Johnny-up.
I was just sitting there waiting for something to happen so she can even out those great saves Laughing
At one point I thought I was looking at Iker Casillas! Cool
I can't remember who shot on goal, but I thought there was no chance for Emma to save it
- but she did! God she's TALL! Shocked Laughing

I was surprised to see them all there too.
I didn't expect Fleets or Kelly to be there.
Usually the midweek games are without our key players
but they were all there except Jayne, who appeared later, but did not play.

Twmcat, matey don't worry about the times,
as long as the peeps know those were the times you got my texts, and not the goal times, it's ok Wink
The most important is that you were posting them Cool

I know we do take the mick out of Emma a lot but I do think sometimes she doesn't get enough credit as it all goes on the out - field players. Numerous times she has saved Arsenal this year and last Smile

I agree Smithy - Emma can be great at times Cool

I just wish her Little Johnny-ups didn't cost us so much...

She's tall and she's a good goalie, but sometimes I wanna slap her in the face Laughing
The poor girl is bored in the abandoned goal so when the ball comes at her,
she's still asleep sometimes Laughing Try Red Bull Emma! Wink
Put it in the goal, next to your chair and book Laughing

And for goodness sake stay less than 1 mile from the goal!

Y'day Arsenal defenece was late at one point,
B'ham striker was running towards the goal, after a long ball which was passed to her from the other side of the pitch,
and Emma ran out and instead of grabbing the ball, she just placed herself between the ball and the striker
and basically did what the defenders usually do - didn't let the striker touch the ball, but let it out the pitch.
And it happened nearby the corner flag - who does that?! Laughing
EMMA BYRNE hahaha! Laughing
