Mexico have been told by Fifa to recall four players who were released from their Confederations Cup squad to play for their club in the Libertadores Cup.
Guadalajara have reached the last eight of the tournament and will defend a 4-0 first leg lead against Argentina's Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.

Jesus Corona, Alberto Medina, Ramon Morales and Omar Bravo had all travelled to Argentina for the game.

They will now return to Germany for Mexico's tie against Japan on Thursday.

Mexican Football Federation president Alberto de la Torre said: "They want the national team to be at full strength.

"As a preventative measure, they've indicated that the players cannot play for their club, and it's even possible that the federation could be suspended."

Skipper Theodoros Zagorakis has joined Greece's squad ahead of their opening game against Brazil on Thursday.

Zagorakis had been due to miss Greece's first two matches of the tournament as he was required by club side Bologna to take part in their Serie A relegation play-off battle.

But the Italian club have now agreed to release him and and he arrived in Germany on Monday.

However striker Zisis Vryzas looks set to miss the tournament after breaking his hand during Sunday's match with Spanish club side Celta Vigo.

Defender Mihalis Kapsis is also struggling with thigh and hamstring injuries.

Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka will start on the bench for Australia in Wednesday's opening Confederations Cup match with hosts Germany.

Viduka has played just 10 minutes in 2005 for Boro due to a hamstring injury.

"Mark has been training hard," said Australia coach Frank Farina. "But he is understandably a bit rusty after a lack of first team action."

Osasuna striker John Aloisi will lead the attack in a 4-5-1 formation with Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brett Emerton and Everton star Tim Cahill supporting from midfield.

The Confederations Cup will offer Argentina's fringe players such as defenders Gonzalo Rodriguez, Gabriel Milito and Martin Demichelis, midfielder Lucas Bernardi and forwards Cesar Delgado, Mario Santana and Luciano Galletti a chance impress coach Jose Pekerman.

Argentina, who play Tunisia in their opening game iin Cologne on Wednesday, having already qualified for the 2006 World Cup.

Others, such as Real Madrid defender Walter Samuel and Valencia midfielder Pablo Aimar, will hope to relaunch their international careers after absences during the last year.

It certainly is getting exciting. Germany have yet to play a competetive game since the European Championships, so it is a big test for them and Klinnsman. This used to be seen as a Micky Mouse cup, however this year with strong sides being entered by Brazil and Argentina, Germany need to take the competition very seriously. If they flop in this tournament, it will mean they will go into the World Cup deflated.

On a brighter note, Deisler does seem to be improving and is likely to take some part for the Germans.

Certainly looks like this is going to be a great competition.

Brazil beat Greece 3-0 tonight. I watched the game, it was pretty good. Some great goals. Adriano's goal was amazing and Juninho's goal was pretty decent too
