Reds' Reina bid under threat |
|
Liverpool's bid to sign Villarreal goalkeeper Jose Reina is under threat from a rival Barclays Premiership club, reported to be Arsenal.
The Spaniard's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told the Daily Star: "I have had an offer for Reina from another English Premiership team. "At the moment I can't say where he will be playing next season. If Liverpool don't resolve the difficulties, the saga could take a surprising turn." Reina said: "Everything is in the hands of the clubs and my agent. I am excited about joining Liverpool but until the contract is signed I can't be sure what will happen." Meanwhile, Qatar club Al Rayyan claim to be in a bidding war with the Reds for Real Madrid's Luis Figo. The Portuguese international has spent five years at the Bernabeu since a then record £37million move from Barcelona. The 32-year-old has expressed an interest in playing in the Barclays Premiership and Far East side Al Rayyan claim the European Champions want him. But the Anfield outfit have not matched Al Rayyan's wages offer according to the Qatar club's president, Ali Al Noaimi. He told the Daily Star: "We want Figo and we know about the offer from Liverpool but we are able to offer much more money." |
