well i did not see the match as i was at Karate , but what a comeback by Boro . It must have seemed all over when Basle scored to make it 3-0 on aggregate but they produced a stunning comback to make the semi-final .

Ok Senior , what did you feel like when Basle scored first , must have though that was it ..?

yes it is great to see teams other than the Man Utd , Arsenal and Liverpool teams doing well in Europe .

Thats it, i have experienced every feeling i ever need to feel.

Never will anything come close to the emotions i felt last night.

Last night was something out of a fairytale, it was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, i was doubtful before the match i just couldnt see us beating Basle because they looked a quality quality side last week. The Riverside was buzzing as soon as it kicked off everyone was singing and cheering the lads on from the start.

They scored the away goal and my heart sank, when the ball hit the net i couldnt move i was gutted beyond words, i would go as far as saying i wanted to cry. That was it - 4 goals without reply is a huge huge task, but the stadium stood up and continued singing.

OH THE BORO WE DO, OH THE BORO WE DO, OHHHH BORO WE LOVE YOUUUUUU!!!!

a strand of hope was delivered through Viduka and at half time at least we had a slight chance, but to be fair Basle outplayed us in the 1st half their passing and link up play was head and shoulders above us. I text our las at half time, still got it in sent messages it read:

Disaster we need to score 3 goals in 45 mins n not let them score, mission impossible, i want2cry, i'll be in just afta 11 unless we pull of this miracle n hope god is watching, then babe i'm not going home

Morrison off Jimmy on - McLaren goes for it with 3 strikers on the pitch come on boro do us proud.

Viduka bangs in his second and now i'm dreaming that we could COULD pull this off. Viduka was fantastic by the way absolutely unstoppable when he's in the mood he was last night looked dangerous everytime he got the ball.

Now things began to look possible when they had their centre half sent of with about 20 mins to go, i think we all thought we can do this we can do this. Genius from McLaren sticking Maccarone on the pitch, he went for it with four strikers on the pitch and fair play to him. A thunderbolt for Jimmy sent the riverside in choas, what a strike and what a comeback this could be.

90th minute massimo pops us with the deciesive 4th goal - I've been going to the riverside since it opened in 1995 i've been to it all and seen it all - never will i ever feel the way i did when that 4th goal went in, undescribable, words cannot describe, The Riverside went mad absolute pandemonium, and this time i did cry with pure and utter joy and hapiness. thank gods i'm 18 and not a old man because my heart wouldn't of coped.

We did the impossible a miracle happened and i was there to witness it, i have now took up religion and i will pray everyday to god for sticking me on this planet to witness that.

I've alaways said Cardiff was the greatest day of my life - not any more 6th April 2006 officially the most remarkable night in my life.

I think it was around half 3 when i finnally got home - it's going to be a week of celebrations in this small town in Europe!!

great post there Senior and i almost had a lump in my throat reading it . That is what makes the game of football so great , nothing is impossible ...Liverpool`s Champions League triumph , Arsenal winning at the Bernabau , Fulham beating Chelsea and now Middlesborough doing mission impossible.

They really have a great chance of winning the trophy now .

The whole of Teesside is buzzing, i got permission from ma boss to put my boro flag in the office window lol

We're in the Semi Finals of the UEFA Cup we have to go all out and aim for that trophy, we've got this far now it's time to make the world know who and where middlesbrough is! What it would do for the club and town if we won that trophy would be amazing!

I saw Basle go 1-0 up i fought they had it. I saw Viduka equalise and i saw Yakubu narrowly miss, and then i stopped watchin, i fought well if Yakubu had scored then maybe they could have done it, I then checked teletext and fought surley not i saw the score, and was extatic, even though i don't support them.

Nights like that is what what makes football worth while.

Amazing game, Boro and Mclaren should be so proud.

Im a boro fan livin in Bolton atm (i wont mention how i felt in my local when Boro played a certain Carling Cup Final, thats another story)

I rang my older Bro in Boro at half time of first Basle leg. He was taking his dog for a walk 'Thats it now, theyll put loads past us, we've had it'. He was ranting, my in full lagered up mode 'Bol***, we can get back in this u plank'. He was just SOoooo defeatist, and i bloody h8 that about some fans, he used to be a season ticket holder for gods sake!! Anyway i aint spoke to him since, not even to gloat.
Though my spammy e-mail of 'HA HA HA HA...etc for about 2pages should do it :laugh:

Id have loved to have gone to that game, and it does distress me when i see the ground NOT FULL for such important games (i bet u cant get a ticket if u sell ur first born for the home ties atm).

Well my kids and wife want me certified now after punching the tv with exitement when Macca scored the winner, folowed by much screaming down the phone at m8s in the Boro

All i can do to describe the feeling for non Boro fans is this..

Its an England quater final game, we need to score, we presurise and have all the play, eventually the impossible happens, Sol Campbell gets a goal from a header, the crowd goes MENTAL (its that moment) just befor some goit of a ref blows his whistle and disallows it.

Boro have done England proud, and have written themselves into European folklore in the meantime
