I have diffrent opinion.Very much hooligans from Poland are the best fans of their team.When for example Lechia Gdansk was in very bad condition,hooligans help that team to born again.

In my team hooligans also have important role.

can you explain further how hooligans can help a team . The term hooligan means someone who resorts to destructive behaviour , physical violence towards other people or their property. Therefore how can this help anyone or any team ?

Anyway moving on to the Topic,hooligans mean nothing to me,they don't care about football all they seem to care about on match day is seeing who can get slaughtered the most.

No problem, its my job

I for one am totally against hooliganism but the plain fact is that it does exist and there's not a lot us fans can do about it. There are teams that have lost out from the resulting european ban that came about after the Heysel disaster. Teams that had nothing to do with what happened but were persecuted anyway. Why should so many people suffer from the actions of a small group of mindless idiots?

The governing bodies have no choice really. Who else can they punish? Clubs should be doing more to stamp out this sort of thing. I know that Cardiff City and Millwall have both made huge steps in stamping out the hooligan fan base, however it will never be stamped out completely.

So give some ways that you think the clubs could do more to help prevent hooliganism?

if they are worse than scum what would you call burglars ,muggers,rapists,terrorists etc etc etc.
With the advent of cctv its virtually wiped it out ( not quite though), but whats worse seeing all these drunks in town centres every friday and saturday night all over the country ganging up on people and beating them up. At least most hooligans will fight fair and not pick on one or two.

I would also say over 90% of hooligans are v.passionate about their clubs and would definately not jepordise the club in any way. (keeping it away from the ground and stufff so police cant blame club)
Although cctv has brought it down a lot it doesn't help with ethnic tensions rising and people class their club as part of their own identity and some will fight for it some use it to vent their frustrations on these matters. I can see hooliganism rising again - there are a lot of young lads with not much to do and are turning to this as its not just the fighting its a social thing - means your part of something - outside our so-called multicultural society.
I think people should be more worried about suicide bombers this season.

i would class scum as all these , hooligans , rapists , muggers , burglars ,terrorists , murderers , they all cause misery to peole wherever they go . I would not call a hooligan a fan simply by the definition of the word `hooligan` . To resort to violence or abuse is not the answer , you can be passionate about footbal without resorting to kicking the [beep!] out of someone . So no hooligans are not very passionate fans , they are just hooligans plain and simple .

I've been going to football games for a long time so I've experienced hooliganism. I've always felt they're a bunch of idiots and I'm glad there's less of them around now. However, in a lot of ways I prefer them to the glory boys you get these days who never sing or stand. Games are so quiet these days, and in that sense, less enjoyable.

If you were a passionate supporter then I'm sure that you would like to e at every game of the season.

However Hooligans that fight each week are putting themselves in danger of being arrested and sent down for however many years, meaning that they would miss their teams matches.

So I personally don't think hooligans are passionate fans.

No because you go to watch football and not to get caught up in disturbance.

I think I prefer to fell safe at games, not that I get to many these days. I'd prefer to be sat next to someone eating a prawn sandwich than feel threatened like, say, fans at the Heysel 20 years ago.
