Chester warned not too exceed cap

Chester are hopeful of signing a goalkeeper on loan, despite the Football League warning Mark Wright's side that their current wage bill exceeds the club's salary cap.

The Football League introduced a salary capping initiative in order to help prevent clubs becoming embroiled in financial difficulties, and all clubs are obliged to comply.

But Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan is hoping his side can receive special dispensation to sign a keeper on an emergency loan as cover for first choice John Danby, with Caernarfon keeper Paul Pritchard linked.

"We have to be careful because we have exceeded our permitted salary capping limit," Vaughan told the club's official website.

"But I understand that emergency goalkeeping cover can be excluded from the current legislation."

This will probably mean a sort of set up that we have at Cardiff, for every player in one out. But possibly if they loan in a goalkeeper his current club will be willing to pay for his wages.

I hope Chester dont get into the trap we got into by spending over what they can for promotion. It's good now, but in a few years time they will regret it. Hopefully they will see sence before its too late.
