Going 2:0 down in the opening 20 minutes probably isn't what Alan Buckley had planned in the first home game since the 6:0 thrashing handed out to Boston Last weekend but the goals seemed to gel the team and a late goal towards the end of the first half meant that the scoreline didn't look as bad as the lads went in for another ear bashing.

The half time chat seemed to have worked as The first 20 minutes of the second half Town were unplayable. it really was a spectacular turnaround. The ball was well worked, it was their defence that looked decidedly shakey and town managed to sneak in another 3 goals to take the tally up to 10 goals from the last 2 games and with Town 4:2 up it was all looking a little more comforatble.

The problem was that Town had to attack, the defense looked shakey at best and the loudest cheer of the game came when Phil Barnes in the net actually managed to take a cross cleanly without looking like he was going to push it across the line and into his own net.

Luckily the last goal from Bristol came within seconds of the final whistle as the Grisby defence looked decidedly dodgy for the whole of the game and i'm not sure that Grimsby could have withstood another bout of pressure.

Fair play to Bristol who gave us a good game, however they wer3e left to rue a number of close misses with two going only inches close of the far post.

There is little doubt that Grimsby will have to improve defensively over the coming games but the fact that a number of their front men scored will bring a smile to all at Blundell Park.

Even better for the club who have just launched the "Be Town's 12th Man" campaign aimed to get a larger number of fans through the gates for the remaining home and away matches. This saw all tickets to the game against Rovers been 12 and they are putting on free coaches for 500 fans to the next away game against Mansfield. A crowd of 5,883 came to watch the game and Town did a great deal to ensure that at least some of them will be coming back again.

I personally feel that with this result Town have rounded a corner and will now stave off relegation but there are still a huge issues to contend with not least the lack of a defensive prescence.
