Thread: Zinc's Essential LP's

  1. #21
Hot Snakes - Suicide Invoice (2002)

Hot Snakes were formed after the dissolution of Drive Like Jehu, a superb kraut tinged rock band with expertise in extended guitar driven noise, fire-bombing riffs and pummeling drums.

While DLJ's songs were sonically dense and compositionally verbose, Hot Snakes were stripped back and the songs far more concise but like Jehu, the guitars were powerful and drove the songs forward with primal beats through out, rarely letting up. It's basically meaty rock and roll informed by 70's outsider punk like Crime, Chrome and The Ramones and hardcore punk of the early 80's...kick out the jams.

Some albums I've been listening to a lot lately are:

    Manic Street Preachers-The Holy Bible
    My Bloody Valentine-Loveless
    Alice in Chains-Dirt
    Tyler the Creator-Bastard

Can't be bothered writing elaborate descriptions of them but they're all fantastic in their own right.
