    Re: Emmy TV Awards 2014

It was a great night for Breaking Bad who won a host of awards in what truely is a golden age for television at this moment in time.
    Any thoughts on the winners?
Im disappointed that Game of thrones or True Detective didnt win anything!

    Re: Emmy TV Awards 2014

I was surprised with the lack of True Detective wins, but they were up against a juggernaut in Breaking Bad.

Also disappointed Louis CK lost out to Modern Family. Louie is easily the best show on television, regardless of genre.

Apart from comedy central, I don't really watch any tv programmes, apart from 'The Newsroom'. So, I'm glad they won last year for best actor. Jeff Daniels is ace.

Losing out to BB, this year, is no bad thing at all.

Do you like Louis for drama or comedy coz I don't find it that funny. Listen I watched the first series and thought some of it was funny but after that it just seemed to get less funny and turned into more of a pointless drama . I was a big fan of curb your enthusiasm and thought most of that was funny. Would much prefer to watch modern family than that as a comedy

It's definitely a comedy, in a different vein from Curb or Modern Family which are more laugh out loud types of comedies.

Louie is definitely what you can categorize as a black/dark comedy that makes light of what others see as awkward/tragic/sad situations.

I think It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is a little bit lighter example, but still pretty dark. It's a goofier than Louie, but I think it's the second best show on TV right now (after Louie).

CK definitely tries to push the seriousness of things and I can see how it can be seen as a drama sometimes, but it's definitely a comedy that is a great peek into his mind, and it's nice to have a show with an actual strong point of view on the world.

Ya I like always sunny in philadelphia. That's a very laugh out loud show. I don't think curb is anything like modern family. I think its more like louie in that it's Larry getting himself into awkward situations like louie except alot more than louie.

Right, sorry, I meant it was more like Modern Family in the sense of the jokes and punch lines follow a bit more of a traditional format whereas Louie can possibly take 19 minutes of set up before holding the punchline to a subtle jab in the last possible second. Not quite your conventional "comedy" which is why I think, culturally speaking, it's an important show to have on TV.

    Re: Emmy TV Awards

I was delighted that Game of Thrones won the award for outstanding drama series.

One of the best dramas ever made.

No Big Bang Theory in this years comedy nominations?!

Have really enjoyed 1st series of Last Man On Earth and pleased that Will Forte got a mention.

    Is Veep really that good?

Also looking forward to watching Better Call Saul as i loved Breaking Bad.
