Paul Stalteri will leave Werder Bremen in the summer after eight years at the Bundesliga club.

The right back, who has been linked with several Premiership clubs, including Charlton Athletic, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, will leave after turning down a new deal at the club.

The 27-year-old Canadian international joined Bremen from Canadian side Toronto Lynx in 1997.

"I would like to announce that I am leaving Bremen at the end of this season," Stalteri told his own official website.

"I have enjoyed my eight years in Bremen and the decision to leave has been the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my football career.

"I have also decided to leave Germany and pursue my career abroad, although where I will be next season is not yet confirmed."
